Examination

In the examination dialog box, you can view several real-time calculated models of physical findings. The box can be displayed while the calculations are still running, giving a dynamic display.

Observation findings

This is a list of possible symptoms and signs, calculated using the following variables compared to a large symptom/sign database: Plasma potassium, sodium, glucose, calcium, protein, pH, creatinine, thyroxine, ketones, PCO2, SaO2, haematocrit, respiratory rate, pulmonary oedema, blood volume, blood pressure, heart rate, atrial pressure, coronary blood flow, cerebral blood flow, extracellular fluid volume, urine flow, urine glucose, body temperature, fat mass.

The system is currently non-quantitative, i.e. with near-normal values, you might see signs that should only appear with severe disturbances.

Skin colour

This calculates skin colour based on the individual base pigment (from person setup), haemoglobin, arterial oxygen saturation, and skin vascular resistance.

12-lead ECG

This calculates an ECG based on the following variables: Heart rate, plasma potassium, proportion of VE's, left ventricular hypertrophy, right ventricular systolic volume, right atrial pressure, coronary blood flow, cardiac oxygen consumption. It generates a ventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation when physiological conditions predispose to these.

Gases diagram

This illustrates blood gas measurements in various locations in the body.

Eye examination

This calculates the eye responses based on the following variables: Opiate binding, sympathetics, skin colour, body temperature, conscious level.

Reflex examination

This calculates the reflexes based on the following variables: Conscious level, intracranial pressure, body temperature, thyroxine.

Blood film

The microscopic appearance of the blood is calculated from: Haematocrit, mean cell volume, mean cell haematocrit, anisocytosis.

Auscultation of chest

This calculates the sounds heard when listening to the chest with a stethoscope. Hold down the mouse button to listen; the sound depends on the location of the cursor, and the following variables: Heart rate and phase, respiratory rate and phase, aortic stenosis, cardiac output, aortic regurgitation, pulmonary oedema.
