"Normal protein that can be found in urine
Up to 150 mg/day of uromodulin is excreted in the urine
making it the most abundant protein in normal urine.
Significance:
a) may provide defense against urinary tract infections
b) it is part of the matrix in renal calculi but a role in kidney stone formation remains debatable.
However
decreased levels of TammHorsfall in urine have been found to be a good indicator of kidney stones."
