Description
- "Commonest soft tissue tumor.
Very slow-growing .
Adipose tissue enclosed by thin
- fibrous capsule.
Location :
- Subcutaneous (commonest)
- Intramuscular/ Submuscular
- Retroperitoneal - can grow to giant sizes
- Gastrointestinal - submuosal tumors-obstruction/bleeding
- Extradural Spinal - cord compression
Hereditary Lipomatosis - multiple lipomas .
Dercums disease- multiple painful lipomas.
Clinically:
- Lobulated
-Slippery edge
- Pseudoflctuant
Don�t need treatment - usually removed for cosmetic reasons
Malignant change to liposarcomas very rare.
